And on the 6 hour bus ride down to Phenom Pehn I read about the Khmer Rouge &amp;amp; the French protectorate-ship, so I felt like when we got there I had a better understanding of &amp;#39;where I was&amp;#39;.  Yeah, following the LP to a T gives you a very narrow view of a place, but if you&amp;#39;re short on time it can help you make the most of a trip.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;That said, if you want to find someplace free of tourists come to Rayong.  It is fucking DEAD here.  The only time I see other white people is when I go to work, the supermarket or the island.  It&amp;#39;s about as &amp;#39;authentically Thai&amp;#39; (whatever that means) as you can get.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;And I agree, taking the CELTA in Chiang Mai was an awesome experience and introduced me to some pretty awesome people. I've been there twice and it is my dream picture of a classic south seas island.
